Amazon Redshift vs Snowflake
Amazon Redshift and Snowflake are both evaluated in the CIOPages Cloud Data Warehouse Buyer's Guide. The guide groups Amazon Redshift under — and Snowflake under Multi-Cloud CDW.

| Best for | AWS-committed enterprises with predictable workloads seeking cost-optimized performance | Multi-cloud enterprises prioritizing SQL analytics, data sharing, and zero-ops experience |
From the Cloud Data Warehouse Buyer's Guide, updated March 2026. 5 vendors evaluated.
Amazon Redshift
The cost-optimized option for AWS-committed shops with predictable workloads: deep AWS integration, RA3 instances with managed storage, the AQUA acceleration layer, Redshift Serverless for variable demand, and competitive pricing on reserved capacity. Multi-cloud support is limited, concurrency scaling has improved but still trails Snowflake, data sharing sits behind Snowflake too, and operations are more complex than serverless alternatives.
Snowflake
The zero-ops SQL warehouse to beat: best-in-class multi-cloud portability, near-zero administration, strong SQL performance, and an excellent data-sharing marketplace, with Snowpark covering Python and ML work. Consumption pricing produces cost surprises, separating storage from compute demands careful workload management, and ML capabilities are improving but not yet at the Databricks level.
