The six jobs/Job 01

Decide where AI goes in the business

The CEO and the board want an AI plan. The work is to decide which functions and which work to start with, how much the AI may do without a person, what has to be in place first, and how you will know it worked.

The decisions

5 decisions make up this job

  1. 1

    Where to start

Rank the functions, and the work inside each one, by value, feasibility, data readiness and risk.

  2. 2

How much the AI may do alone

For each use, decide whether AI assists a person, acts with a person approving, or acts alone. Name the checkpoint that stays with a person before anything is built.

  3. 3

    Switch on, buy or build

Much of what a function needs is already in software you license. Decide per use whether to switch on a vendor's AI feature, buy a specialist product, or build on a model platform.

  4. 4

What has to be in place first

An agent needs data it can trust, permissions on the systems it touches and an escalation path. The EU AI Act has applied since August 2, 2026, with exceptions, so governance comes before go-live.

  5. 5

How you will know it worked

Set the baseline, the measure and the stop rule before the pilot starts.

Map AI to each function

An AI transformation blueprint for each function

Each blueprint shows the function's work as it runs today and with AI: the capabilities, value streams, data model, agent specifications, use cases, controls and a three-wave roadmap.
