Automation Anywhere vs UiPath
Automation Anywhere and UiPath are both evaluated in the CIOPages Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Buyer's Guide. The guide groups Automation Anywhere under Cloud-Native and UiPath under Agentic Platform.
| Attribute | Automation Anywhere | UiPath |
|---|---|---|
| Approach | Cloud-Native | Agentic Platform |
| Best for | Cloud-first organizations that want scalable unattended automation with strong document AI and a clear agentic roadmap | Large enterprises building a center-of-excellence automation program and standardizing on one platform from discovery through agentic orchestration |
From the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Buyer's Guide, updated June 2026. 9 vendors evaluated.
Automation Anywhere
Cloud-native from the architecture up, with a managed path from bots to agents: a web-based platform with strong AI document processing and an AI Agent Studio for building agentic automations on top of deterministic bots, a long-standing Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader for RPA, and competitive reach into the mid-market. The community and marketplace are smaller than UiPath’s, it remains privately held and venture-backed so roadmap and corporate trajectory deserve weighing, consumption-oriented pricing rewards careful sizing, and some customers report the pace of platform change as a migration consideration.
UiPath
The broadest end-to-end platform, and a program commitment rather than a point tool: market-leading orchestration, native process, task, and communications mining, strong document understanding, and an early, coherent agentic story where the Maestro layer coordinates bots, AI agents, and humans, over the largest community and partner ecosystem and a credible path from UI bots to API and agent automation. Positioning is premium and the platform can be more than simple use cases need, the move to platform-unit consumption pricing changes how you forecast cost, and running the full estate across orchestrator, mining, and AI is a real operating commitment.
