LogicMonitor vs SolarWinds
LogicMonitor and SolarWinds are both evaluated in the CIOPages Network Monitoring & Management Buyer's Guide. The guide groups LogicMonitor under SaaS Hybrid Observability and SolarWinds under Traditional NPM.
| Attribute | LogicMonitor | SolarWinds |
|---|---|---|
| Approach | SaaS Hybrid Observability | Traditional NPM |
| Best for | Lean IT and MSP teams wanting agentless hybrid monitoring with built-in AIOps across network, server, and cloud in a single SaaS platform | Traditional IT environments with large, multi-vendor owned estates needing deep device, flow, and config management |
From the Network Monitoring & Management Buyer's Guide, updated June 2026. 8 vendors evaluated.
LogicMonitor
One SaaS pane across hybrid IT, agentless and quick to stand up: SNMP and flow-based network discovery with thousands of ready-made integrations across Cisco, Juniper, Meraki, and more, so network sits beside infrastructure and cloud, with the Edwin AI AIOps layer handling anomaly detection, alert-noise reduction, and root-cause acceleration. It is broad and shallow by design relative to specialist NPM or pure DEM tools, the subscription scales with monitored resources, internet-path and hop analysis is less native than ThousandEyes or Catchpoint, and it is strongest when you want one platform across hybrid IT rather than best-of-breed depth in one layer.
SolarWinds
On-prem network monitoring does not get deeper or more familiar than this: broad multi-vendor SNMP, fault and performance management, NetFlow, and configuration management on the SolarWinds Platform, formerly Orion, now packaged as Observability Self-Hosted with NPM and NetFlow modules, over a large skills base and approachable mid-market economics. The heritage is device- and on-prem-centric, so visibility into networks you do not own is newer and less native than the internet-path specialists offer. The 2020 SUNBURST breach reshaped its security posture, now “Secure by Design,” and Turn/River Capital took it private in 2025 in an all-cash deal of roughly $4.4 billion, so weigh roadmap direction under new ownership.
