From the Human Capital Management (HCM) Buyer's Guide, updated June 2026. 9 vendors evaluated.
UKG (Pro & Pro WFM)
For shift-based, hourly, and unionized workforces this is the strongest combined story available: UKG Pro for HCM, payroll, and talent paired with industry-leading workforce management in UKG Pro WFM, on deep US payroll and scheduling and compliance engines, across healthcare, retail, and manufacturing. Legacy Workforce Central is reaching end-of-life, so existing Kronos customers face a migration whether or not they wanted one. Global reach is narrower than Workday’s or SAP’s, and the two-platform heritage from the Ultimate Software and Kronos merger means deployments must be scoped carefully.
ADP
Nobody runs payroll at this depth: RUN and Workforce Now for SMB and mid-market, the cloud-native ADP Lyric HCM for enterprise, GlobalView and Celergo for multi-country payroll, enterprise WFM from the 2024 WorkForce Software acquisition now unified across the platforms, and managed-payroll services that offload the run itself. It has historically been a portfolio of platforms rather than one suite, and the Lyric and NextGen modernization is still rolling out across the base. Talent depth trails the suite vendors, per-employee-per-month pricing and add-ons accumulate, and implementation-partner quality varies.
