WalkMe (SAP)

The category pioneer and still the most mature enterprise DAP: the deepest cross-application guidance, in-app validation, and adoption analytics across web and desktop apps. SAP acquired it in 2024 and folded it into the SAP Digital Adoption Platform, with WalkMe’s AI positioned to feed the Joule copilot context-aware, proactive help — a first-party adoption layer for SAP-centric estates. That ownership cuts both ways: roadmap and pricing now align to SAP’s strategy, which reassures SAP shops and is a watch-item for anyone standardizing on non-SAP stacks who wanted a neutral, multi-suite DAP. It has historically carried a heavier build-and-maintenance effort at a premium enterprise price, and deep flows demand real implementation and ongoing upkeep.

Whatfix

Vendor-neutral is the strategic point, and the suite has grown to match: in-workflow guidance, a ScreenSense engine that interprets application context, pre-production simulation training through Mirror, and built-in product analytics, pitched as one platform from training through in-app support to optimization, with recurring Gartner Representative Vendor and Customers’ Choice recognition and a reputation for faster implementation and strong support. That breadth also means the platform is sprawling — landing guidance plus simulation plus analytics is a program, not a switch-flip. As a neutral player it must keep pace with suite-embedded DAPs, and the newest AI and agent features warrant hands-on grounding tests rather than the demo.
