Value Streams
Supply Chain Management Value Streams: AI-Ready Edition
12 supply chain value streams in 60 stages, each shown today and AI-native, with its target AI mode and human checkpoint
What this value stream set is for
These value streams show how one function's work runs from the trigger to the result, stage by stage, as it runs today and as it could run with AI. Each stage names the target AI mode, the agents involved and the checkpoint that stays with a person.
Teams use them to decide where AI goes in the work, to plan process redesign stage by stage, and to tie each stage to the capabilities that enable it.
About These Value Streams
The Supply Chain Management Value Streams: AI-Ready Edition is for CIOs, architects and transformation leads who need to see how supply chain work runs from trigger to value, and where AI belongs in it. It covers 12 value streams in 60 stages. Each stage is shown as it runs today and as it could run with AI, with the target AI mode, the agents involved and the human checkpoint that stays with a person. It is the value-stream part of Business Architecture for Supply Chain Management: AI Transformation Blueprint, sold on its own.
What's Inside
The same 12 value streams come in three files: a deck to present, a workbook to work in and a guide to read. The workbook holds every field; the deck shows each stage as it runs today and AI-native, with its AI mode and human checkpoint.
- 12 supply chain value streams and their 60 stages, each with its steps, stakeholders, entry and exit criteria, and the capabilities that enable it
- For every stage: today's pain points, the AI-native future state, the agents involved, the target AI mode, the human checkpoint and KPIs
- 10 standard supply chain value streams with their steps, as a reference process view
- The Value Streams deck (PowerPoint): every value stream as a flow, then stage by stage
- The workbook (Excel): the value streams and every stage, in sheets you can filter and extend
- The guide (Word): the scales used at each stage (AI mode, human oversight, risk tier and work pattern), every value stream in prose, and the license
- Free corrections, and new versions free for 180 days
Every file names your organization and carries your license ID.
The 12 Value Streams
Each value stream runs from a trigger to the value it delivers. The list gives that value and the number of stages.
- Strategy to Network (5 stages): A network whose footprint, capacity and cost match the service the business has promised, with every facility and flow decision tested against alternatives before capital is committed.
- Forecast to Plan (5 stages): One agreed plan for demand, supply and inventory that the business executes, with the right product where it is needed, less inventory and fewer expedites.
- Source to Contract (5 stages): Supply secured at the best total cost, quality and risk under a clear, signed contract; for suppliers, a fair competition with the same information for every bidder.
- Procure to Pay (5 stages): Suppliers are paid on time and correctly; the organization pays only for approved, received goods and services, pays each invoice once and to the right account.
- Onboard to Perform (5 stages): Supply that arrives on time and to specification from suppliers who know what is expected of them, see how they perform and have a path to more business.
- Plan to Produce (5 stages): Products made on schedule, at the required quality and the planned cost, and released to stock only when quality has signed them off.
- Order to Deliver (5 stages): The right product delivered on the promised date, with the customer informed throughout, at the planned cost to serve.
- Shipment to Settlement (5 stages): Freight moved on time at the contracted cost, cleared across borders correctly, and carriers paid the agreed rate promptly and once.
- Return to Recover (5 stages): An easy return and a prompt refund or exchange for the customer, and for the business the most value recovered from each product and fewer repeat causes.
- Concept to Launch (5 stages): Products launched on time with their supply chain ready, without shortages or excess at launch or at end of life.
- Detect to Recover (5 stages): Revenue, service and safety protected when a supplier, site, route or product fails, with risks seen early and responses rehearsed.
- Measure to Improve (5 stages): A supply chain that gets better each period in cost, service, quality and environmental impact, with improvements that last.
Who Uses It
Process owners and the teams who redesign supply chain work, transformation leads who need a future-state process view to plan from, and business architects who map value streams to capabilities.
How It Fits With the Other Products
Each stage names the capabilities that enable it; they are defined in the Supply Chain Management Capability Model: AI-Ready Edition. The agents each stage involves are specified in Business Architecture for Supply Chain Management: AI Transformation Blueprint, which also holds the business data model, use cases, controls, an operating model and a roadmap. The Supply Chain Management Business Data Model is sold on its own too.
Target AI modes describe a typical large enterprise and are a starting point for your own.
