Commissioned articles from operators, about work they were responsible for.
What it is
We commission a small number of articles from sitting operators — CIOs, CTOs, chief architects — about decisions they were responsible for. These cost nothing and carry no paid label. We publish few of them, and we choose who writes them.
What it costs
Nothing. We do not pay contributors and we do not charge them.
The full rate cardWhat you get
- A byline under your own name and title
- Editing, and a say in the final text
- No paid-contribution label, because it is not one
What it does not buy
- A guaranteed publication. We commission few articles and decline most approaches
- A followed link to your company
- Coverage of your product. An article about your own product is an advertisement
How to do it
- 1Pitch, do not draft
A thesis in three sentences and four or five bullets. A finished draft is more work for you and no more likely to be accepted.
- 2Lead with what you ran
The pieces that work are about a decision the writer was personally accountable for, including what went wrong.
- 3We reply, or we do not
If it fits, we will come back with an outline and a date. If you would rather pay for a guaranteed byline, the Executive Forum is that.
The paid route. If we have not invited you, this is the way to publish under your own byline, and every article there carries a label saying it was paid for.
Questions
Do you accept guest contributions?
Yes, by two routes. Invited contributions are unpaid and selective: senior operators writing about work they were responsible for, pitched in a few paragraphs rather than sent as a finished draft. Agency-placed and self-nominated articles go to the Executive Forum instead, which is a paid annual membership in a section of its own, reviewed before we invoice it and labeled a paid guest contribution.
The Executive ForumWho qualifies?
Sitting or recent CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, CISOs, chief architects and equivalent senior operators, writing under their own name on IT strategy, enterprise architecture, AI governance, technology cost, sourcing, or the organizational side of those.
How do we pitch?
Send your role, a thesis in three sentences, and three to five bullets on what the article would cover. Not a finished draft, and not an attachment. If it fits what we are working on we will come back to you. If you have not heard within two weeks, it was not a fit this time.
Pitch a contributionCan our contribution include a link to our company?
One, in the author biography: your company or your LinkedIn profile, whichever you prefer. The body of the article carries no commercial links. In Executive Forum articles that biography link is marked as advertising, like every outbound link there.
Do you pay contributors, or charge them?
Neither. We do not pay for bylines on either route, and invited contributions are free. The Executive Forum works the other way: an annual membership fee plus a fee for each article, capped at 6 published articles a year. It stays in a section of its own and every article is labeled a Paid Guest Contribution, so nobody mistakes it for our editorial coverage.
We're not writing a piece, but we have data or commentary. Interested?
Often, yes. Original data, benchmark figures and specifics from real deployments are useful to us when they are relevant to a guide we are working on. Lead with the substance rather than the product.
