From the API Management Platform Buyer's Guide, updated March 2026. 5 vendors evaluated.

Kong (Konnect)

The highest-performance gateway here, and you pay for it in operations: sub-millisecond latency, Kubernetes-native, a strong open-source community, an excellent plugin ecosystem, and Konnect’s SaaS control plane over hybrid data planes. The developer portal and analytics are less mature than Apigee’s and MuleSoft’s, enterprise governance needs Konnect Enterprise, and it asks more operational investment than fully-managed alternatives.

Tyk

Open source in Go with GraphQL-native support, aimed at engineering teams with a budget to defend: high performance, flexible self-managed, cloud, or hybrid deployment, and competitive enterprise pricing. The ecosystem and community are smaller than Kong’s, analytics and the portal require Tyk Dashboard, and market presence trails the established players.
