Brex
Global scale and real-time control are the pitch: Brex Empower unites global corporate cards, expense, bill pay, travel, and business accounts with strong multi-currency ambitions and granular controls that block out-of-policy spend at the point of sale, pitched from startup to enterprise. Capital One acquired it in 2026, closing in April, which brings balance-sheet stability and banking infrastructure — and makes roadmap and independence a variable to watch rather than a settled question. The company has repositioned its target market more than once, the all-in-one breadth means scoping the right modules takes care, and interchange and banking economics underpin the model.
Ramp
Card-led and interchange-funded, so the software is free and the incentives point at savings: corporate cards, expense, bill pay and AP, procurement, and treasury on one platform with an obsessive focus on automated savings, duplicate and subscription detection, a fast modern UX, and an aggressive, well-funded push into agentic AI — agents that read receipts, code transactions, and clear the bulk of expenses without human review — plus strong native integrations with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, and QuickBooks. It is primarily US-focused, with thinner multi-currency and international card issuance than the global-first players. The free model ties you to its issuing-bank and interchange economics, it works best once finance processes are defined, and managed corporate travel is lighter than Navan or Concur.
