incident.io

Slack-first for the whole lifecycle, and the AI investigation is now the draw: alerting, On-call, and a multi-agent AI SRE that starts investigating the moment an alert fires — searching code changes, past incidents, logs, and traces to propose root-cause hypotheses and the likely culprit pull request — then auto-drafts timelines and retros, over an exceptionally low-friction response UX with strong status pages and stakeholder comms. On-call and alerting are newer additions to a response-first heritage, so deep paging veterans should pressure-test scheduling and escalation edge cases. The chat-centric model assumes a Slack or Teams culture, the AI claims need POC validation against your own incident data, and enterprise governance is a younger footprint than the incumbents’.

PagerDuty

No paging backbone here has more mileage on it, and it defined the category: the deepest escalation, scheduling, and event-orchestration model, the widest integration catalog, and battle-tested notification reliability at scale, with Operations Cloud extending into automation, customer-facing status, and AIOps event correlation, and PagerDuty Advance agents — SRE, Scribe, Shift, Insights — pushing toward agentic, lifecycle-stage automation behind human approval gates. Per-seat pricing is premium and grows with responder count. The platform has sprawled well beyond paging, so you pay for and configure scope you may not use, the polished response and retro workflow is newer and less chat-native than the AI-first tools, and cultural adoption of the full Operations Cloud is a project rather than a switch.
