From the Unified Communications & Collaboration (UCaaS) Buyer's Guide, updated June 2026. 8 vendors evaluated.

RingCentral

Voice-first buyers shortlist it because the cloud-PBX and global-PSTN depth is among the deepest available: RingEX carries broad international number coverage and porting, a tightly integrated RingCX contact center plus a lightweight contact-center bundle for queues and shared inboxes, an open developer platform with wide CRM and app integrations, and RingSense AI across calls and meetings. Document collaboration and persistent chat are thinner than Teams or Google, so it complements rather than replaces a productivity suite. The meeting experience is solid but not the reason buyers choose it, and brand recognition trails Microsoft and Zoom in the enterprise.

Vonage

CPaaS is the center of gravity, and UC is no longer the headline: owned by Ericsson since the acquisition closed in 2022 and operated as its Global Communications Platform business, it leads with programmable voice, SMS, video, and network APIs, with Unified Communications and Contact Center offerings on the same platform — the right fit where communications must be embedded into custom apps and workflows. Out-of-the-box collaboration and meetings get less focus than the developer and API platform, brand momentum in seat-based UC has cooled relative to the major platforms, and buyers should weigh roadmap priorities under Ericsson, which lean toward network APIs and CPaaS.
