About AWS Cloud Map

AWS Cloud Map is a cloud resource discovery service. It lets users define custom names for application resources and maintains the updated location of these dynamically changing resources. Users can register application resources such as databases, queues, and microservices with custom names. Cloud Map checks the health of resources to keep location information up-to-date. Applications can query the registry for the location of resources needed based on application version and deployment environment.

Used for

  • Monitoring the health status of application resources automatically
  • Querying AWS Cloud Map using AWS SDK, API, or DNS to discover resource locations
