About Nightingale
Nightingale (n9e) is an open-source alerting engine. It lets teams write and run alert rules across multiple existing data stores from one place. It sends alerts to channels such as Slack or PagerDuty. It is self-hosted and licensed under Apache-2.0. Since v9 the n9e process itself functions as an MCP server.

- Categraf: Agent that collects data from operating systems, middleware and databases and writes it in over Prometheus Remote Write.
- ibex: Component that can be wired up so an alert fixes itself.

- Writing and running alert rules across Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Elasticsearch, ClickHouse and other data sources
- Registering data sources such as Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, ElasticSearch, ClickHouse or Loki for alert evaluation
- Aggregating alert storms into a view by business group and severity
- Managing alerting in plain language through MCP-connected clients like Claude Code and Cursor
