About Submariner

Submariner is an open source project designed to facilitate direct Layer 3 networking between Pods and Services across multiple Kubernetes clusters, whether deployed on-premises or in various cloud environments. It addresses the challenges enterprises face when managing multi-cluster Kubernetes deployments for geo-redundancy, scalability, and fault isolation. By enabling seamless cross-cluster connectivity, Submariner allows applications to span multiple cloud providers, data centers, and regions without complex network reconfiguration.

Targeted at enterprise IT teams and cloud infrastructure architects, Submariner is network plugin agnostic and supports encrypted or unencrypted connections, service discovery across clusters, and interconnection of clusters with overlapping CIDRs.
