How the IT Maturity Assessment works
You answer 21 questions, 3 in each of 7 dimensions: IT Strategy, Talent & Culture, Operations, Security, Innovation, Architecture and Governance. The questions appear one at a time.
Each question has 5 answers, scored 1 to 5. The lowest answer describes no formal practice. The highest describes a continuously optimized one.
A dimension's score is the average of its 3 answers. Your overall score is the average of the 7 dimension scores, shown out of 5.0.
Reading your results
The overall score sets your maturity level. A score of 1.5 or below is Initial. Up to 2.5 is Developing. Up to 3.5 is Defined. Up to 4.5 is Managed. Above 4.5 is Optimizing.
The same cut-offs set an archetype: Reactive IT Shop, Stable Operator, Strategic Partner, Digital Engine and Industry Benchmark. The summary names your weakest dimension.
The radar chart plots all 7 dimensions on a 0 to 5 scale. Each dimension bar shows a note keyed to its band: 2.0 or below is low, up to 3.5 is mid, above 3.5 is high.
Unlock Moves lists 2 actions for each of your 3 lowest dimensions. The tool also flags score combinations, such as Governance at 4 or above with Innovation at 2 or below, or Strategy at 4 or above with Operations at 2 or below. It adds a note when every dimension is 2.0 or below, or every dimension is 4.0 or above.
